Collision Avoidance

Although no equipment can replace a focused human watch, it can help to provide early alerts in many situations. We have a B&G AIS transponder which allows us to see and to be seen by most boats. To be aware of boats that don’t have a functional AIS system, we also have B&G Halo20+ Radar which scans the horizon while consuming little energy. With this we should also become aware in time for arriving squalls. Both systems have of course proximity alarms.

These instruments cover above sea level. For below sea level we have the B&G Forward Scan transducer which allows to check the forward depth when going slowly.

Finally, we have a second set of independently wired navigation lights (tricolor) at the masthead, which is a prerequisite of offshore racing regulations.
